A Family Portrait and Then Some

When I consider the making of a great family portrait one place that comes to mind is Oak Ally in Grand Coteau. The surroundings are graced with century old live oaks, symbols of strength.

Oak Ally which leads from St. Charles College to The Academy of Sacred Heart is filled with stories that resonate faith, hope and committment. It is for this reason that I choose this setting for family portraits.

I had the pleasure of meeting the Simar family out of the Northshore area. They've moved to the Lafayette area after Katrina and we met this past weekend to take family portraits. Our agenda was to stay for about an hour although the ideas that we spoke of earlier during the week seemed to be a nice fit for this family so our session went with the bent of this family. The Simar's seemed to know the secret to creating beautiful imagery. . . allowing children to be . . . just to be.

Our time out under the Oaks in Grand Coteau was well spent. The imagery speak for themselves. ~

Carousel ~ A St. Mary's Production

Every evening this week St. Mary's Founder's Hall has been filled with families eagerly awaiting the opening scene of the muscial Carousel.

For those of you unfamiliar with the story it revolves around a love affair between Billy Bigelow, a traveling carnival man, and Julie Jordan, a local factory worker.

Here are some of the images captured during one of the performances! From the orchestra to the cast Lafayette has some amazing talent! What a great group of young adults and what a powerful message of faith, hope, and love.

The Birth of a Blog

For the past three days I've been creating my photography Web site. It's a day I've thought about over the past three years and it's about to be birthed. What was the deciding factor in making me take the plundge you might ask....

I shot an event last weekend at Cafe' Vermillionville for the Gaines family. Through out the evening I was asked numberous times....when can we view them on your Web site? Well...my next client will have an answer that I don't shy away from. I'll proudly say....they can be viewed within a day! Technology is a most wonderful thing!

Today is Memorial day and life is good! Web site being birthed, Blog up and running and my children are all expected in at 3:00 for some friendly croquet games along w/BBQ. This year
we've also invited our adult children's dogs as well. Call me crazy! Maggie, Nala and the newest addition Dori. As we speak Claire is in the midst of decorating our red wagon for a Memorial Day dog parade.
The only way our little canine's can celebrate with the rest of us is to be dressed for the occasion. Something red, white, or blue. Let's see how creative our group can be.
